The purpose of this website is to promote the Central Missouri Humane Society, or CMHS, in our campaign to win a grant contest from the website ZooToo.com.

The contest is divided into 3 Phases. We are currently in Phase 3, the final online public voting phase.


Phase 1 (completed Friday, March 13):  Shelter supporters earn points by being active on ZooToo.com for their affiliated shelter. The Top 20 shelters become Semi-Finalists.

Phase 2 (completed Tuesday, April 7):  ZooToo representatives tour these Top 20 shelters to view their condition in order to narrow the 20 Semi-Finalists down to 10 Finalists.

Phase 3: It will be up to America to vote on the most deserving shelter. The shelter with the highest number of public votes by America will win the makeover! Registered ZooToo.com users with profile pictures can vote up to 10 times each day (joining is fast and free).

In Phase 1, nearly 3,000 shelters across the United States competed for a place on the Top 20 list in the contest. Registered ZooToo.com users earned points for their chosen shelter by being active on the website. The Top 20 shelters moved on to Phase 2 toward the million-dollar top prize on Friday, March 13th 2009, with the #1 shelter in terms of points earned receiving a bonus $10,000 prize in addition to moving on toward the million-dollar giveaway with the other 19 top-ranked shelters in Phase 2.

The Central Missouri Humane Society was ranked #1 in Phase 1 as of Friday, March 13th, and officially won the $10,000 bonus for coming in first.  CMHS, along with the other 19 top-ranked sheltered, moved on to Phase 2.

In Phase 2, the CEO and owner of ZooToo.com visited each of the Top 20 shelters from Phase 1 to meet with their boards of directors, tour the shelters, and interview their staffs. He and his staff then chose ten of the Top 20 shelters to progress to Phase 3 toward the million-dollar prize, CMHS included!

In Phase 3, the contest opens to a public vote. Every registered ZooToo.com user who has also uploaded a profile photo will be permitted to vote 10 times per day for the shelter(s) of his or her choice, so please register on the site and upload a photo so that you can help us by voting once Phase 3 begins on April 13th!

Registered ZooToo.com users who have uploaded a profile photo can submit 10 votes each day for 7 days (70 votes per person) starting on April 13th and running through April 19th.  Please visit ZooToo.com every day from Monday, April 13 to Sunday, April 19 and vote for CMHS with all 10 of your votes.  Thank you for your support!
